Thomas E. Perry

Attorney
Thomas Perry

About

Tom Perry is a Michigan native from the Shiawassee County area and a graduate of Owosso High School. His path to the legal profession was unconventional, built on years of military service and local business ownership before he began his formal legal training.

It’s this real-world experience that makes Tom a powerful advocate for people; he understands that most clients aren't looking for a lecture– they are looking for a solution. Known for his frankness and a refusal to sugarcoat the facts, Tom provides the kind of straight talk and honest assessment that only comes from decades of real-world experience.

Military Service and Local Roots

In 1990, Tom joined the U.S. Coast Guard, serving on active duty until 1994. He concluded his service as a Damage Controlman 3rd Class, a role that required technical precision and the ability to solve complex problems under pressure.

Following his military service, Tom returned to the Owosso area to raise his family and engage with the local economy. For nearly 15 years, he owned and operated Tomahawk Marine, a local business that allowed him to serve the community while honing his practical understanding of small business operations and the value of a job well done.

Academic Excellence and Legal Career

Driven by a childhood dream to become an attorney, Tom returned to his studies with a focus on excellence. In 2014, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from Central Michigan University with a B.A. in Entrepreneurship and a major in Legal Studies.

He continued his education at the Michigan State University College of Law, beginning his studies in 2016 and graduating in 2019. This transition from business owner to advocate allows Tom to bring a unique, real-world perspective to every case he handles.

Personal Life

A Michigan native and Owosso High School graduate, Tom has spent his life building roots in the Shiawassee County area. He and his wife, Alaina, have been married for nearly 20 years and take great pride in their two children, who carry on the family legacy of service: their son serves as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Space Force, and their daughter supports veterans through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

When he isn’t practicing law, Tom is likely in the garage working on classic or exotic cars, tending to his farm, or enjoying the great outdoors.
